All of our Spark Support team are volunteers – we simply couldn’t do it without every single one of them. We’re so grateful for the time, effort and dedication that everyone shows.
Together, we make our amazing Peer Support Group run smoothly and keep it flowing as awesomely as it should.
Would you like to get involved? We’re always on the lookout for Peer Support Moderators, drop us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and one of our management team will get back to you with how to get involved!
I’m a techie by day, working for a worldwide recruitment company, looking after their internal IT systems. Tech has always been such a big part of my life, I was even doing computer networking at university before the black dog came and got me. I’ve been suffering from depression for 7-8 years now, and it’s caused me to drop out of university, and hide from the world. But I damn well know that we need to fight back. And we’re so much stronger as a team than we are as an individual. This is why we made Spark.
Howdy! I’m Emma and I’m the Spark Chief Community Officer. I’m trained as a hairdresser, hence the multicoloured hair, but I also hold certificates in Counselling and I’m currently studying Psychology with the Open University. I have had anxiety and depression for over 15 years now and the one thing that I have found to help the most, was expressing myself during my darkest moments in the Peer Support Group. I love to cross stitch, colour and listen to records.
Hello! I’m Rachael, a tea enthusiast and a mother of two tabby kitty-cats! I work for the NHS as part of a mental health recovery team, and alongside this, I’m the Engagement Manager for Spark – as well as a Peer Support Facilitator. I have been diagnosed with both Generalised Anxiety Disorder and EUPD, and I’ve struggled with my mental health for over 10 years. I graduated with a master’s degree in Mathematics & Statistics in 2016 and since then I’ve had a lot of experience of using both inpatient and outpatient mental health services. In my spare time, I’m a bookworm, a crafter and a writer for my personal blog. I also love to bake cakes and eat them!
I currently work as an accountant for an events company – I’ve always been one of those strange people who love numbers! Outside of work, I am mum to a lovely dog Milo. I practice Yoga and meditation which has become an increasingly big part of my life. I have been living with Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder for as long as I can remember. Growing up was challenging, I was scared and I knew something was wrong. I was up and down, I was drained and confused. I never want anyone to feel they are fighting this fight alone and that’s why Spark is such an important place to bring people together.
Meow! I’m Spark’s honorary trustee and the team’s motivational speaker.
